What does it mean when a book is on Reserve?

Reserve books are books that are reserved for particular classes; usually textbooks. These books are often the property of Pierce College instructors.
Most reserve books can only be borrowed for two hours at a time. Reserve books are located at the Circulation/Reserve desk which is next to the entrance of the library.
